Two Paths to Work with Regatta: You Choose What is Best for You

CPAs who work with Regatta Research are frequently amazed at the sheer flexibility they have in choosing the best way for you and Regatta to team up. In a nutshell, there are the two paths we can take to work together;
1) Become a Regatta Financial Advisor, or
2) Work with Regatta as a Third Party Investment Advisor through your Current Broker Dealer or your own RIA.

Option 1. Become a Regatta Financial Advisor

  • General
    As straightforward as it sounds, you become a Regatta Financial Advisor and employee.
  • Pros:
    • We handle all compliance, billing, contracts, etc.
    • You determine your hours and production
    • We provide you with a system, process, and infrastructure
    • Become part of a high end, client centric, boutique wealth management firm
  • Cons:
    A partial reduction in your freedom of action For example, marketing campaigns and literature need to be reviewed for compliance or alternative investments must be submitted through Regatta’s due diligence process.
  • Process:
    • Pass the Series 65
    • Submit a "clean" U-4
    • Review and agree to abide by Regatta’s Code of Ethics, Employee contracts, etc.
    • Being our Training and familiarization process
    • Create marketing plan in conjunction with Regatta Research
    • Receive Regatta Research business cards and stationary

Option 2. Work with Regatta as a Third Party Investment Advisor through your current Broker Dealer or through your own RIA.

  • General
    Under both of these regulatory arrangements, you completely run your practice free and distinct from Regatta Research. We simply manage all or a portion of your clients’ portfolios for you.
  • Pros:
    You can maintain your existing arrangements.
  • Cons:
    If Regatta Research is not already approved, the Third Party Money Manager due diligence and background check required by your B-D or RIA may be lengthy and may not be a priority of your compliance department. There may be restrictions placed on certain non-traditional vehicles and strategies utilized in the portfolios.
  • Process:
    • From Your RIA to Regatta Research or from Your Broker-Dealer to Regatta Research
    • Due Diligence
    • Solicitor’s Agreement
    • Mutual Background Checks
